Quick facts

William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester, founded the school in 1382, and it has stayed on the same site ever since.

Its chapel and hall date from the 1390s, and the chapel has a wooden fan-vaulted ceiling.

Pupils play Winchester football, a game played only at the school.
