Quick facts

The Prince of Wales rented a farmhouse here in 1786, had it enlarged from 1787, and John Nash remodelled it between 1815 and 1822.

The exterior is Indo-Saracenic, with domes, minarets and cusped arches, while the interior was designed in Chinese and Indian fashion.

From December 1914 the Pavilion was a military hospital for soldiers of the Indian Army, and more than 2,300 men were treated there.
