Quick facts

Only the chancel survived the damage of the Hundred Years' War, yet it is still counted among the finest church buildings in Sussex.

It holds six medieval canopied tombs and stained glass by Douglas Strachan installed between 1929 and 1933.

Spike Milligan is buried in the churchyard, under a headstone that carries his epitaph, "I told you I was ill", in Irish.
