Almost 5 million cubic metres of Channel Tunnel spoil were piled behind a 1.7 km sea wall, creating about 45 hectares of new land at the foot of Shakespeare Cliff.
It opened to the public in 1997 and is managed by the White Cliffs Countryside Project.
Its habitats include chalk grassland, sea buckthorn scrub, ponds, rockpools and a pebble beach.
