Quick facts

Ramsgate Main Sands is a wide sandy beach with a promenade and a lifeguarded area.

William Powell Frith painted the crowded beach in Ramsgate Sands in 1854, after the railway reached the town in 1846.

Chalk cliffs and a long row of seafront terraces frame the beach.
