Quick facts

The Powell-Cotton Museum was founded in 1896 by Percy Powell-Cotton and displays hundreds of African and Asian animals in natural-habitat dioramas.

The current house follows an 1816 design by Thomas Hardwick, on a site where a manor has stood since 1449.

The gardens cover about seven acres, with sweeping lawns, a Victorian walled garden and a woodland trail.
