Quick facts

Austen lived here from July 1809 until May 1817, shortly before her death in Winchester.

She revised Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice and Northanger Abbey here, and wrote Mansfield Park, Emma and Persuasion.

The museum holds the only three known pieces of her jewellery, including a turquoise and gold ring bought back for the nation in 2014.
