The Gothic Revival tower was built around 1787 in Arundel Park by the architect Francis Hiorne of Warwick.
The Duke of Norfolk is said to have asked to see an example of Hiorne's work before commissioning him to restore the castle.
It is about 50 feet high, triangular, with three octagonal corner turrets in flint and stone chequerwork, and it overlooks Swanbourne Lake.
