The Guildhall was built in 1529 for the Guild of Corpus Christi and its job was to regulate the village's wool trade.
The courtyard garden grows woad, the plant that gave Lavenham's cloth its famous blue.
Exhibits cover its later lives as a jail and an almshouse, with a mummified cat and thumbscrews to try.
