Greyfriars was the first Franciscan friary in England, set up soon after the friars arrived in 1224.
The surviving 13th-century chapel spans the river, in a rebuilding in stone that began in 1267.
The chapel and its Franciscan Gardens are now looked after by Eastbridge Hospital, which holds services in the chapel.
