Henry III, who was born at Winchester Castle, built the Great Hall between 1222 and 1235.
It is the main surviving part of the castle, which was largely demolished after the Civil War, and now houses a museum.
The Round Table on its wall dates from the 13th century and was repainted in its present form for Henry VIII.
