Get directionsThe Cross, North Street, Chichester, PO19 1LB
The Perpendicular-style cross is built of Caen stone and, according to its inscription, dates from between about 1477 and 1503.
It stands at the crossing of the city's North, South, East and West streets and was built as a covered place for poorer people to sell goods.
It is Grade I listed, and Malmesbury is the only other surviving late medieval covered market cross of similar form in England.
