Quick facts

Steam trains usually run from Tenterden Town station through the Rother Valley to Bodiam on a heritage railway more than ten miles long.

Just outside town, Smallhythe Place is the half-timbered home of the actress Ellen Terry, with a barn theatre that still stages live performances.

Tenterden is home to Chapel Down, described as England's largest producer of English wine, whose winery lies just south of the town.
