Quick facts

Stair Hole shows an earlier stage of how Lulworth Cove formed, where the sea has broken through a limestone barrier on one side and is eating into the softer rock behind.

The Lulworth Crumple is where alternating layers of limestone and mudstone were folded by the same earth movements that raised the Alps, roughly 30 million years ago.

It is a short walk from the visitor centre, with viewing platforms over the folded rock.
