Quick facts

The long sandy beach holds a combined Blue Flag and Seaside Award for 2026, with a paddling pool for hunting crustaceans, a play area and free parking.

There is plenty of room for windsurfing and kite boarding, and Minnis Bay Sailing Club, founded in 1950, holds dinghy and catamaran races most weekends.

Birchington's other three sandy bays lie just along the coast, backed by chalk cliffs and cliff stacks, and Quex House and its famous animal dioramas are close inland.
