Quick facts

A walled garden of three enclosures linked by a central lawn, with views to the village's 12th-century church, sits beside a Queen Anne manor house.

Beyond the walls are a lime avenue, arboretums, a woodland garden, a holly walk and an exotic Jungle Garden, so the planting changes from room to room.

Jane Austen visited often because her brother married a daughter of the house, and the 18th-century Serpentine Walk was reinstated in 2014 along the route she would have used.
