Quick facts

The Dalrymple family planted the grounds in 1922 as an informal woodland garden with trees, shrubs and perennials from around the world.

The garden is run as a social enterprise by the Minstead Trust, and around 30 people with learning disabilities work there alongside gardeners and volunteers.

A garden designed for the Chelsea Flower Show by Chris Beardshaw with the garden's staff, students and volunteers won a Gold Medal in 2012.
