Get directionsThe castle has stood over the Isle of Purbeck for around a thousand years, built in the late 11th century on a natural hilltop.
Parliamentarian forces besieged it in the Civil War and then demolished it, leaving the ruins visitors climb today.
It is run by the National Trust, and the Swanage Railway stops at Corfe Castle station below it.
