Quick facts

Chilham's square is lined with timber-framed houses of Tudor origin, with the castle gates at one end and St Mary's Church at the other.

The castle grounds are landscaped gardens with views over the Stour valley, a lake and an avenue of old trees, and are open to the public on summer Tuesdays.

The North Downs Way runs through the village, and a Neolithic long barrow, Julliberrie's Grave, stands on the downs above it.
