Quick facts

Five low stone footbridges cross the River Windrush through the middle of the village, which is why it is called the Venice of the Cotswolds.

Every August Bank Holiday two local teams play a football match in the river itself while crowds line the banks.

A Grade II listed one-ninth scale model of the village, open since 1937, and Birdland, home to England's only breeding group of king penguins, make it an easy full day for families.
