Quick facts

Amberley Museum is a 36-acre open-air site beside the station where you can ride a narrow-gauge railway and a historic bus, and watch craftspeople such as a blacksmith, broom-maker and potter at work.

Bignor Roman Villa, a few miles away, has mosaic floors described as among the finest in Britain, including a Medusa head and a corridor mosaic about 24 metres long.

Amberley Wild Brooks, a wetland of around 800 acres in the Arun valley, is nationally important for wintering birds such as teal, shoveler and Bewick's swan.
